I've had the time to refine my interests and passions over the past months so it's actually becoming easier for me to look for work. One thing that I have decided as far as direction of the search goes, is that I am not going to compromise and take just any non-profit job or just any education job. I have a passion for high school (potentially middle school) students and I want my resume to reflect that. I need to believe and trust God that he has the perfect plan and the right job for me, and not get all worried about it because I could just apply to be a secretary somewhere and that'd be that. You know? Anyway, I really want to pursue a Master's in Education, emphasizing on School Counseling/Guidance Counseling. That in mind, I'd like to work with an organization that partners with or supports local high schools in mentoring, educational support, emotional support, and parent education/encouragement, etc. There are TONS of orgs like that here in NY, I just need to get appropriately plugged in. I may start mentoring a high schooler through one of these orgs to get a foot in the door. Also, I'm babysitting in the meantime to keep the $$ coming in somewhat....So there's the rundown. I know God sees me and my struggle and the sadness and anxiety that comes with it. I want to view this time of unemployment as I would a time of employment--doing it for the glory of God and not in a spirit of complaining or anger, etc. I mean, He's already teaching me tons of things about myself and my desires as I'm in the search, things I may not have learned if I just jumped right in somewhere.
So, there you have it. My life as I know it. I'm so so so thrilled to be going home to California this weekend. Nathan is traveling for work so I'm going home from the 9th-16th. It's going to be awesome, and when I get back, our friends the Sellevaags will be in the City! We get to babysit Nicholas! Yay! Anyway, I'll leave you with another thing I NEVER do....and that's post some lyrics to a song that has spoken to me a lot in the past week. I'll post more on some of the fun things that I've been up to lately when I get some time. Babysitting and such has been consuming my free time! Eeek!
Send me a sign
A hint, O whisper
Fill me with life
'Cause I am listening
Come break the quiet
Breathe your awakening
Bring me the light
'Cause I am fading
Surround me with the rush of angels' wings
Shine Your light so I can see You
Pull me up, I need to be near You
Hold me, I need to feel loved
Can You overcome this heart that's overcome?
You sent a sign
The hint, O whisper
Human, divine
Everyone is listening
Death laid low
Quiet in the night is stirring
All around the rush of angels
A hint, O whisper
Fill me with life
'Cause I am listening
Come break the quiet
Breathe your awakening
Bring me the light
'Cause I am fading
Surround me with the rush of angels' wings
Shine Your light so I can see You
Pull me up, I need to be near You
Hold me, I need to feel loved
Can You overcome this heart that's overcome?
You sent a sign
The hint, O whisper
Human, divine
Everyone is listening
Death laid low
Quiet in the night is stirring
All around the rush of angels
Shine Your light so I can see You
Pull me up, I need to be near You
Hold me, I need to feel loved
Can You overcome this heart that's overcome?
Pull me up, I need to be near You
Hold me, I need to feel loved
Can You overcome this heart that's overcome?
O the wonder of the greatest love has come
Shine Your light so all can see it
Lifted up, 'cause the whole world needs it
Love has come, what joy to hear it
He has overcome, He has overcome
Shine Your light so all can see it
Lifted up, 'cause the whole world needs it
Love has come, what joy to hear it
He has overcome, He has overcome
Mer - Thanks for sharing this with us. I totally understand the time of silence for God. I know what it feels like to wait for Him. I'm praying for you during this time. He does have a great plan for your life. Love ya.

That's amazing and really reflective of where I am right now, too. After a year of job hunting I, too, feel like "any job" would be almost a waste at this point. Really encouraging! Thanks, Mer!
